The LCBO has informed us that it is very important that you fill out the permit form correctly or they will call you back to do so. here is a form and I will show you how too.
the top left is for office use only leave alone. under that to the left side is where you fill in your name and address to the right you can se I have filled it out with our name and address's MADSEN'S GREENHOUSES 160 BAYVIEW PARKWAY NEWMARKET, L3Y 4X1 NEWMARKET YORK Under this is where you put the name of the person that you want to be in charge of the evening in all liquor related matters. This person assumes all the legal responsibilities for the evening, as well as the name, also enter his or hers address beside, to the right Will alcohol be served or consumed outdoors? for the time being this is a NO The next line is not for weddings so skip it. The next section is VERY important First of all make sure you have the right date, at most wedding the bar opens at 5.30 and ALL closes at 1am if not before NOW HERE IS WHERE IT GETS IMPORTANT under room/area/exact location you must enter BANQUET HALL. THIS IS BECAUSE THE LAW DOES NOT ALLOW ALCOHOL ANY WHERE ON THE PERMISSES OTHER THAN THE LOCATION STATED IN THIS SPACE. In the column, Nature of event and fee per day. You check out the box Reception and if it is an open bar then you check out the no sale box, if you are selling, then it is the sale box you check off. (keep in mind that if it is a sale, every thing you purchase from the beer and liquor store are subject to an extra 13% tax, this is on top of the sales tax) the rest all the way to the bottom leave empty. To the right there are some questions, are tickets to be sold? .. NO is there an admission charge?... NO Will alcohol be sold?.. this is a yes or no depends on you Are you making and serving your own wine? again this is up to you if this is a yes or no ( keep in mind that if you have a cash bar then you can not sell your own wine at the bar, but must purchase wine for this purpose) Will the event be advertised?...NO Is the event for invited guests only?...YES Under Details of event just enter WEDDING. on the other side of this paper are a column where you must sign this is very important also there are boxes there ask sale or no sale must check one. |

A few notes regarding you, me the law and alcohol just because you rent our facilities doesn't mean you can do as you please especially when it comes to drinking. I have had the groom and all the grooms men arriving in a bus and out comes the best man caring a large cooler filled with beer. As soon as I saw this, I ordered that cooler back on the bus and a heated argument followed, but I can tell you you can not win. It is your wedding, but don't spoil it for your self. Go ahead sue me the bar will not open the music will not play before I say so, and I will not say so before I am satisfied that the law and the rules are followed. Please don't bring your own beer or alcohol I will take it away, all drinks must be served from the bar. Further more, the bar does NOT SERVE ANY SHOOTERS, don't go and purchase all that stuff, the bottles will NOT BE AVALIBLE AT THE BAR BUT GIVEN BACK TO YOU AFTER THE WEDDING also I have had grand mother feeding her under age grand son alcohol (I don't know what to say about her, at least I will not say it here) This was 11pm, regardless of the time I will have no problem in closing the bar and stopping the music till grand mother is send home with her grandson in a taxi, sue me. This was a family wedding, however its a family wedding in Ontario and the law says "DO NOT serve alcohol to minors" so DON'T. If my bartenders or my self see this going on and after you have been told, and you do not take any steps to stop this, THE BAR WILL CLOSE. It does not matter what time it is and will not open before the persons are sent home.
So the stories goes. We have about 65 events a year with alcohol, it is very few that try too do it their way. Trust me my bartenders and I will not let you break the law, every one have a great time, just drink responsibly. ole. |
